A 4-star waterfront motel resort and café at Karumba, with 21 motel units on 5,060m², a large saltwater pool and a 40-seat café with a full liquor licence.

A rare and unique waterfront motel resort at the mouth of the Norman River, Karumba, leading out to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The complex was built 16 years ago by a group of partners who identified the site and created a 4-star facility for the upper end of the tourism market.

The resort sits right on the water, with palm trees, beautiful sunsets and the Gulf’s roaring 40s cloud patterns. The 21 motel units are on 5,060m² of land, with room for 10 more units subject to council approval, and there is a vacant area of over 800m² for further units or an accommodation complex.

Accommodation comprises 2 beachfront executive suites, 4 two-bedroom family units, 4 one-bedroom units and 11 studio units, including 2 disabled-access units. All plant and equipment needed to run the motel, including linen and laundry, are included.

The 40-seat outdoor café and restaurant on the deck overlooks the water and famous evening sunsets, and holds a full restaurant liquor licence. It is next to the Sunset Tavern and an easy walk to the boat ramp, and the council is creating a waterfront walkway to complement the café.

Karumba is a coastal town on the base of the Gulf of Carpentaria, known for fishing, cattle, minerals and tourism, and is on every traveller’s bucket list.
